Do they put any thought into this?

Good to see the MFK family spreading the word ! I try to help people with tanks by offering advice/suggestions. The sad thing is if you aren't very subtle about it you just end up looking like a fish geek( I think we all are already) and most of the time people just don't care or want to hear it. No matter what help you try to offer people they still seem to love cramming all mismatched types of fish together in as small a tank as possible?
 
I understand that the fish were improperly cared for and their housing needed some vast improvment, but I highly doubt the koi was missing alll of scales from chlorine. Fyi some breeds of koi are bred to have little or no scales.
 
Agreed, chlorine kills before causing scale loss, there are several types of scaleless or partially scaled koi.
