just one slice tomato and one leaf of lettuce for me; extra onions, extra pickles. no mayo, no ketchup, add mustard. throw on a slice of cheddar, some bacon, and you got a proper burger.

LOL didn't realize this was a 3 year old thread. it is a timeless classic, though.

+1 for no mayo....I HATE emulsifications of all sorts....

This was a good one to bring back!

I'll take mine sans salmonella, por favor!!

that tomato-salmonella deal is a ridiculous media scare. less than 1,000 people have gotten sick, out of 300,000,000 in the country. you have a better chance of becoming an astronaut, winning the lottery and getting struck by lightening, all in the same day.

And can anyone tell me how exactly a tomato harbors salmonella? lol I think there is more to that story than what was said...Do some DNA manipulation research and you will understand what I mean...

now they're saying it could be in onions, cilantro, and jalapenos. sounds like a conspiracy against Mexican restaurants to me...

Take it or leave it as far as lettuce. I enjoy tomato and bread-and-butter pickles on my burger. Also like swiss cheese/yarlsberg cheese and sauteed mushrooms on 'em.

now that sounds like a damn good burger. the bread-and-butter pickles sounds interesting. never thought about doing that at home, and never been to a restaurant that serves them.

How could you not love tomatoes and onions on burgers! It is not there to mask the taste of the burger, it is to compliment it. If your burger taste isnt strong enough to come through with tomatoes and onion on it I suggest you get some better beef haha

Nice big burger, medium rare, slab of onion, slice of tomato, some nice thick cut bacon, provolone cheese, lettuce a few pickle round,s mayo and a touch of ketchup. Thats a burger right there!

...now I am hungry...hmmmmmmmm beeeeeeeeeeef

I was just goofing anyway! I'm not worried about it at all.

As far as your conspiracy theory, it's because they think it's in salsa, and are therefore looking into all the ingredients.

Actually, my girl did her thesis on genetic mutation with things like salmonella. She's so smart! My little bio-chemist!
