Do u regret getting a 96 inch long tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a 96x48x30 wish I went longer 120"/144"' , I wouldnt go any higher than 30" though and 48" width is good

I suspect most people who have such tanks only regret them not being bigger.

This is my regrets.

1. I didnt get a bigger tank.
2. Using FX6 filters instead of a sump

My findings:
1. They really are not that hard to maintain provided you have good flow rate.
2. They are noisey lol equpiment and overflows.
3. Its a money pit, that you will love and love and love

Biggest advice if you're having the tank built, is to have them cut out a low drain to make water changes stupid easy.

my largest tank is only 48 inches long. all is well & my two Synodontis have lived happily in this tank with a few bushy nose plecos for eight years. for years we have talked about getting a 96 inch acrylic tank. the manufacturer said he could make it any length i want, so maybe 90 inches, anyway. all i keep thinking is what a pain this will be to maintain,I am the only one who cares for all the animals, etc.

1) If you have a 96 inch long tank do you regret it?

2) is there anything you wish you could change? like "oh I wish it were less gallons, or I wish it were 90" instead of 96 inches long, or I wish it were 18 inches high instead of 20 or 24, or you with it were less deep from front to back etc etc etc.
3) you know like any advice before I fork over the cash to actually have the stand and tank built?

Not one bit of regret... although I do agree with some of the posts above, in that you need to make sure that one dimension of the tank is less than 30", to allow for bringing it through doorways. My .02; go as deep and as long as you can afford/have space for, height is the easiest dimension to give up (for me). My personal opinion is that a height of 18-20 inches is perfect (of course it will depend on your stock); as it still allows for adequate viewing/swimming space height wise and wont make you end up going armpit deep while cleaning.

lol, so true, currently my display tank is 100" wide... I sure wouldn't mind if it was 120"
