A few days ago I was so sick I couldn't walk without having to worry about blowing from either end let alone do a water change and it got me to thinking, what will I do if I become so sick I can't maintain my fish tanks for a period of time? Now I present all of you with a question. Do any of yall have a plan for if yall were to become unable to maintain your fish tanks for a period of time because of say a sickness?

No plan but if something like that happens I can always contact the local fish group in Tampa and request help. They’ve done it before. If its that bad then I’ll donate the tank and fish.

No.
I am a woman, nothing keeps me from getting my business done:p
I’ve had abdominal surgery and gone back home to take care of my two kids alone. I’ll tell yet what, changing tank water even when I’m sick is a lot easier then chasing a toddler and feeding/caring for a six month old. Haha.

On a serious note, I really don’t have any back up plan. If I can’t care for my fish the best I can do is talk my 9yr old through it. She has helped me before, I just prefer to do it all myself. If an illness struck me so hard I’d be unable to care for my fish for a prolonged period I’d have to seriously think about selling off my stock.

I have had a shoulder surgery and gall bladder removed not at the Same time,
and still managed to get it all done.
But if I get unable to function or even worse, like going on to the big fish bowl in the sky.
I’ve told the wife just to call the LFS and give everything to them and they will come get everything and the fish will be taking care of until they find a home for them.
Already talked to the owners they said they would be happy to do it for me.

I'm very lucky, if anything ever happened and I couldn't look after my fish for any amount of time my ex would help me. The fish aren't just mine or his, they're ours so we help each other with them where needed.
We don't do it for each other, hell I couldn't care less if he gets injured, but I do care if my fish don't get looked after. We do it for our pets. :)

I’m liking the way this thread is going but I’m suprised no one has yet mentioned an automatic water changing system.

I have designed multiple automatic water change systems, but have never implemented one, just because of the increased potential for things to go wrong. Low rate drip systems don't completley eliminate the need for water changes, IMO.
