Do you buy your clothes at Wal Mart?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the example, it's exactly what i figured they do. deceptive yes but illegal no. it's as plenty of people have said, you get what you pay for. Darius would say silly people, you cannot get better quality for less money.

Holy crap - you miss him, don't you?

There is an old saying, "Clothes don't make the man". Who cares where you get your clothes from. It's how you perform naked that really matters. LOL!

^ wasn't that quote attributed to a naked 400 pound man who couldn't afford clothes that size so he wore california king sheets?

ps, dan, who doesn't miss a good darius quote? they may have been far and few between but the good ones were like finding a diamond in the rough

Wal-Mart is cheaper because they treat their employees like $#!%

Wal-Mart is cheaper because they ship in from manufacturers who use what is practically slave labor -- at the expense of the VERY CUSTOMERS that are obliged to shop (and yes even WORK!) there.

Wal-Mart is cheaper because they use clothing with the same silhouette as a burlap sack.

I am not a rectangle. I abhor working conditions that you'd find in a book written a CENTURY ago (Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle"). I am not obliged to shop there. If YOU aren't obliged to shop there, AND you are aware of how stores like it wreck things on both a micro- and macroeconomic scale, then yeah, you are are going to get the stinkeye.

Amen - I quit shopping at Wal-Mart because of the horrible shopping experience and shoddy merchandise...and have stayed away because of the way that they treat their employees (including returning veterans).

I don't shop at Walmart for anything - they're stuff is cheap for a reason.

I have been price-checking things a few times and been surprised at how much cheaper they are than everybody else. When I was looking for an electric Jeep for my son I noticed they had the same model as Toys-R-Us for $50 less. After researching a bit I found out that the Walmart Jeep (with the exact same model name and #) is a cheap knock-off of the real thing (stickers instead of tail lights, an AM radio, and other changes). They do this with electronics as well, they will sell a Sony TV for $100 less than everyone else, but it isn't really the same TV. Very deceptive, in my opinion...

This is why their commercials say same Sony brand and not same Sony tv. I know a few people who work for companies that make products sold at Walmart and was told Walmart tells the companies what they are going to pay going for the product and that they need to find a way to make it for that cost regardless of whether these savings affect the quality of the product or not.

Its not really WalMarts fault, society too often assumes a lower price equals better value without considering quality.

Americans are the world's largest consumers. We want cheap goods. Walmart has found a way to supply them. Walmart will not go away until the demand for cheap goods disappears.

...or whether meeting Wal-Mart's cost requirements force companies to find places to manufacture their goods in countries with low wages and lax or non-existent labor and environmental laws.

But as long as people are willing to buy from a company that supports such practices - Hey it's cheaper! - then the race to the proverbial bottom will continue...

Think about it this way: If Wal-Mart didn't cheat hourly employees out of overtime, discriminate against women, provide poor benefits and other deplorable labor practices, then your poorly made stuff might cost a few cents more.... And that's what's most important for our society, right!?!

I gotz mine; F all the rest!

Matt
