I have 2x Eheim 2217 and 1 Fluval 405 they had been running for 2 years+, I never clean the tube and my fish don't have any problem.
Just wondering if any of you wash it.

I don't. I do, however, put a nylon over the output and secure it with a rubber band so when I start the pump back up all the crap that is left in the line doesn't blow out into my tank. Then, after it's been running for 10 min. or so, I take the piece of nylon off.

I never have either, but I'll turn my filters off and on a few times to dislodge anything stuck before I do a water change, then I just suck out all the floating junk.

This is a great tip!! :)

My xp4 awhile back kept getting air trapped in canister, i did everything possible then looked in my tubes and notice they were creating bubbles, so i used my 20gauge shotgun cleaner with 3' metal pole and got all the goop out and there was ALOT! It was nasty, worked fine ever since but my fx5 tubes are way bigger.

I clean the canister hoses at least once per year, more often if needed.
