Ok. Valentines Day is around the corner and just wondering who all likes it and who all thinks it's a lame Hallmark Holiday.

Lots of girls give the explanation that "It's the one day a year that we can express our LOVE for each other"

But really, you only express your love one day a year?? Your relationship must really be in the crapper.
I mean comeon.

Why is it necessary to spend $40 more than usual on roses.
Why spend an extra 3 hours waiting to get seated at a nice restaurant (if you get in) or unless you booked the reservation 3 weeks in advance,
And do people seriously LIKE getting silly little stuffed animals with hearts sewed to their paws?

Ugh. I dont know. If you happen to enjoy it, my guess is you're either a woman. Or your woman has beaten you into thinking you enjoy it.

This thread makes me sound like i'm a guy.

I'm with you... Valentines is way to play on human emotion. Don't ask me why I have to sit in a resturaunt full of obnoxious people who I probably can't stand.. Oh joy... :)

As a married guy, what kills me are all the diamond commercials. Its like they try to make you feel like a dope because your not willing or able to drop a grand on her. But, what really kills me is when fathers day comes arround. All you see are ads of women shoving sleeping men on couches being shoved into moving containers. Thats really unfair!

Oh i know.
Those diamond commercials are horrible.

"Show her how much you love her"

Because if you dont show her by buying her a $2,000 Diamond, then you really dont love her. You're just a shmuck. :screwy:

I dont have an option to choose from. Valenties day will be a joy for me until the day I day....Its my daughters birthday!!! Hard to believe she will a year in less a week! :(

lol. Well you have a good excuse to like it. :D

i hate it but thats because i dont have anyone to give a valentines too :(

still good way to make money from emotions

It's another worthless holiday driven by materialistic consumer whores. If you really have to pick a day to show your significant other that you care, your relationship sucks.

It's a corportate marketing gimmic to get everyone to spend money on stuff that is useless. I have worked in retail management for over 6 years and it definately works. Valentines day, Easter, Christmas, Back to School, Labor day, all four seasons, Thanksgiving, Black Friday and many more. In the last hundred years look what corporations have done and people feel they need them. They are all laid out through out the year to keep them in the Black. Coca Cola brought Santa Clause into the mainstream picture even though they didn't entirely invent him.
I have always taken my girlfriends out on days close to Valentines day because it is impossable to even enjoy it, when every restraunt or movie theater is packed on V day. Just enjoy it, fight the pressure to feel the NEED to do it and spend money.
