Lately, I acquired some new fish and they were sick. All I have been doing is lot of waterchange and dosing medications. I feel like I'm getting burned out with doing waterchange on 3 tanks. 125, 40, 20. What do you guys do when you go through this? I was thinking I should stop buying fish and work with what I currently have. I want to just stay with what I have for awhile since I was stressing out acclimate new fish. Share your experience or advice.

I am maxed out on fish. I have just been taking care of what I have. No new ones. At least not until I get another tank.

yea i was burned out for a while i downsized a little bit and now im happy i might get another big tank in a few months

At one point in time I had 6 tanks the smallest of which was 30g. Every saturday was fish tank cleaning day and it took all day. All day. Then I noticed I had tanks everywhere. Some I never even looked at. So I consolidated down to my largest 2 and a breeder/quarantine tank, as needed. I also have a tank at work in my office.

Took me a little over a year to down size from 1000+g of tanks to my current NANO8....Trust me....Evertime I look at me basement, I get the chills of what was once a labortory of Mr. Magoo....Every now and then I get a shot of adrenaline with what money I recieve from going to school, but that is it, just adrenaline....

I pretty much burned out back in fall of 2006 after what seemed like an endless battle with camallanus in my 125 gal. Eventually only lost one fish (Satanoperca sp.) but I did switch up my intended geophagus/acara community to just a general CA/SA mix with couple of miscellanous fish like a polleni.
It did take me a few months to really get the tank going again after almost 4 months of anti-worm activities.

Had mycobacteriosis outbreak a few years back. That almost ticked me off from the hobby but I gathered enough courage and determination to stop it once and for all. Unfortunately, it meant the destruction of my whole stock.:shakehead

I have a 14 gallon nano reef that is burning me out...grows algae faster than I ever thought possible...even when I do extra water changes AND treat with a phosphate sponge! If it hadnt cost so dang much id be done with it already

And no it doesnt get direct sunlight...its what happens when your lights mimic direct sunlight.

I was enjoying the setup I have now and also have another tank under construction.

But with an ill family member taking presidence over everything, spouse working on her masters and the teens just starting to drive cars, I can literally hear the gray hairs growing on my head. It has been a fight just to find time to do water changes. I stole an hour early Sunday morning just to get my fish food together for the week. Then everyone woke up. Well, that ended my one hour of quiet "fish time".

I dont think I have burnout yet but I know it's becoming a nagging chore if things dont slow down soon.

On top of that the new tank construction has come to a grinding halt until further notice.

Don't worry man, you've hit a rough patch but just chalk it up to experience in the hobby. I hope things turn around for you soon, especially with the new 75g coming up.
