Do You Ever Go Through Hobby Burnout?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i had a burnout once when i killed like 6 pbass in a day after a waterchange...
but i keep myself up by buying more fish.

I'm a bit obsessive compulsive and I actually enjoy doing water changes so that doesn't bother me. When I do feel like I'm getting bored with the fish I'll trade some in for something different at the LFS. Or just rearrange tanks.

we had a power outage right before christmas, and I lost all of my fish. 5 days in below freezing weather, there just wasn't much that could have been done. I was just finally getting all of my catfish over an evil columinaris outbreak, and I managed to only loose one of the, and the rest started to get better...then got smacked with the power outage. VERY frustrating! I vowed never to get another fish, but 6 weeks later here I am with 1 tank going again...not much, but I know it won't stop with one tank ;)

I get burned out on occasion but it doesn't typically last long, sometimes just visiting a forum and talking with other people helps because there just isn't anyone in my offline life that can really relate to me. I never get bored of fish and never want to get out of the hobby just frustrated. Frustrated with water changes, aggression, failed breeding projects etc. Probably what bugs me most is how unorganized it all is. I think having an organized fish room would help me a lot. I have tank scattered all over the house and each one requires different steps in order to do a water change. It is a PITA. Sometimes I think I need to downsize but every time I look at all my fish I realize there aren't any I want to part with. That plays a big part in loosing that burnout feeling, just sit back and enjoy the fish.
