Do you ever try to use your fish tanks to impress your dates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have never brought it up to a new girl unless asked somthing along the lines of "do you have any pets?" but I do always make sure before I bring them to my place that all tanks are 110% tip top condition and I usually get a good response for my efforts. I agree with Jkessler623 though, she dosent have to be interested in or even like my hobby, but if she is negative twards my daily dose of relaxation and sanity then it probably wont last very long.

''Hey baby, why dont we go back to my place so I can show you my fish tanks..'' I have used this line before and it worked.

If a guy made it to see my fish.. ( in my bedroom) he was already well aware of what he was in for.. First time I "lost" my fiance at home..found him entranced infront of my fire eels just watching them cruise around. he ran to the bathroom then lost track of time as he had to peek at the fish..

btw... telling "chicks" you name your fish after them.. gonna come back to bite you... or the intelligence of the average woman has significantly decreased.

Then I tell them that I named one of the angelfish after her and for some reason, chicks love that!

Excellent strategy, but it's not gonna work anymore if you decide to date grownups.

Also, things to remember....

-Girls are not all impressed with cute goldfish being consumed by the dozen by toothy monsters...
-don't leave frozen food thawing before they come over and forget about it...
-don't let them see you start your siphon hose with your mouth...
-don't tell them about your fish getting Koi Herpes Virus, trying to convince them it's not communicable to humans isn't worth it...

No, women I have been with are usually not into it. If they were, they would have tanks themeselves. The only way you can impress women is that if they were in the tropical fish hobby also.
I disagree with that, and my girlfriend of over 3 years is proof. When I moved to Kentucky I got rid of all my fish and tanks to make the move down here easier. About 6 months after I moved here I met my current girlfriend and told her about how I use to have multiple tanks and she rolled her eyes and made the usual dork comments. 2 years ago we moved in together and she bought me a little 10 gallon tank as a V-day present. She said there now you have fish again. that was later upgraded to a 29 gallon and now today I have 2 75's up and running and a 150 in storage since we don't have the room for it. And she has a small tank with a Betta in it.
She thought fish was a dumb pet to have in the beginning and now 2 years of having fish in the house she helps feeds them, clean the tanks. I'd show her pictures of my old tanks and fish and she did seem impressed with them, but still thinks I was nuts for how little I sold all my tanks and equipment for before moving down here, which I agree. I do wish I still had my 90 gallon tank and my 30 long would come in handy I'm good without the 29, 20, 10 and 5 gallons I also had before I moved.

First, I wouldn't hide my aquariums....buuuuuut first time dates aren't usually turned on by seeing this...

Hahaha... he looks like he ate a pillow and now he's throwing it up. I know I would love a fish like that but a girl.... not so much.

But if you're dating a girl who's not into fishkeeping, really pretty girly fish like angels and discus get a lot of attention and help with your game in my opinion. If your fish tanks make your date want to stay a little longer at your place, that's a big plus I think and that's why I don't feel dorky showing my tanks.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site, but thought this post unique lol, well I must say it would have worked on me!!! But when my husband and I were dating he could not for the life of him understand why i had fish...."they're so boring", now we have 3 tanks, only bc we just downsized, and well over half are his!!! Every time we stop at the pet store or are looking up fish....there's one he HAS to have...his next project is a lionfish......

Hahaha... yeah I know. It sounds dumb, but you should try it. Mention your fish and tell your date you have a bunch of cool, rare fish. Half the time, your date will want to check out your tank! I have a silver aro and I tell girls that it's a rare lucky dragon fish from China and about half the time, girls will want to come check it out. :asianarow
