Do you ever try to use your fish tanks to impress your dates?

When I was single and kept fish I just let the tank speak for itself. On dates I would not mention them unless asked. Then it is a total awe inspiring surprise when they see it. To ask them to my house I would just say "hey want to go watch some movies?" or "Want to come over?" or just make them food. If a woman likes you she is looking for a reason to go to your house just as much as you are looking for one to have her over. I find it especially interesting that the OP tells them the fish is named after them. It is just a useless untruth unless you actually rename your fish every time you meet a new girl. Heck she is already in your house so there is defiantly no need for a gimmick. She obviously is there for a reason so all that's needed is to be yourself. Its best to stick to the truth you never know which girl you bring home might be "The permanent one"..lol Deception or manipulation are not a good ways to start off. The object of a new date is to focus on her and answer any questions she may have on you. If you go right from the door straight to your tank and talk about it for a few hours you run the risk of seeming self absorbed or overly absorbed by your hobby. Neither of which is good. It is obviously hard to miss a 100+ tank sitting in the middle of the living room, I used to just let the conversation go where it may and eventually they will ask questions if it interests them (which BTW is a good guide to figure out if she shares your interest in the hobby or if it is possible that she could ever do so) If you go right to the tank and start talking about it she is compelled to say nice things and appear to be impressed out of sheer courtesy, if you let it happen naturally you can see her real feelings on the subject. Just my thoughts

Never said "hey u wanna come see my fish" because ive been with the same Girl since i got into fish so she already loves them and my geckos and dog but i have told female classmates about my stingray and they wanna come see... soooo tempting but i must resist. lol I have used the dog as an excuse to invite a girl over and it has worked. Sure i could do the same with my newts and friends in my amphibian 40 breeder setup lol
my girlfriend wants my fish tanks and fish, she told me just this morning and i quote " can i have your expensive rare fish?" and i said "uhh NO!" lol and she laughed. but thats a good thing to hear right?
