Do you guys thaw your food?

You can actually spoil the food by using hot/warm water to speed up the process...u should follow reedmasters instructions as this is the proper way to thaw human food therefore fish food. Sometimes i cheat a bit by using cold water in a bowl out of the fridge, but even then i do not keep rinsing it and i let the food thaw for a good 2-3 hours before using, it should still be cold when u toss it in but not frozen. There is really no way to speed up the process. It takes around 3-6 hours to do it right in the fridge, overnight is just easier.

A friend killed an arowana with a frozen shrimp. It ate it, shivered a few times, then later at the bottom. Died that night. Think about it you have an ectothermic creature. A chunk of frozen food could drop its body temp fast. Throw your tropical fish in 60 degree water for a minute and tell me what happens. Now try 40 degree water and see. A few mins thawing it out isn't a waste of time. I do mine in a little tank water and let it sit for a few minutes while ai feed pellets. When I am done it is usually ready.

If you don't want to take a few minutes out of your day to feed your fish then get out of the hobby.

I been stumbling a lot about people using garlic. Can anyone explain to me the purpose of this?

Garlic is both an appetite stimulant and homeopathic anti parasite remedy. Most fish either like it or at the very least don't mind it.

It helps in increasing appetite and digestion. Also an antibiotic.

I thaw all the food I give.
