Do You Have Any Irrational Fears?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a fear of standing on sewer and storm darins. I thought it was just in my child hood but as i realized this weekend when my car was stranded in the highway right on a drain that im still terrified. I was walking on it like if it was hot coals.

Also have a thing about pumping gas. Either the total amount or gallon has to be a certain way. For example the total cant be 15.49 and gallons 3.7 it has to be either 16 or 15 bucks even or 3 or 4 gallons. Does that make sense? And this happens with anything that involves two amounts. Like a treadmill time vs distance also bugs me. One of the amounts has to be ok with me. But thats an ocd not a fear.

Also have a fear of heights.

Also have a phobia about lizards and geckos. BUT i dont mind monitors, and beardies and other big lizards i just have a intense fear of anoles and house geckos.

Well I have quite a few irrational fears...

First one being of gators and crocs (yes sw crocs do exist where I live). I can swim all day long in the ocean. Sharks do not bother me one bit. I ve swam in waters infested with them... whatever. Get me near a lake or mucky brakish water on a river or something.... forget it. I won't touch that water. I ll get on a boat/kayak/canoe that's on the water but the second any part of my body touches the water it;s an instant freak out. I am absolutely terrified of mucky water where I can't see anything and expect a giant gator or croc to come up and bite me in half. (crystal clear spring waters are the only exception).

The second one is spiders and roaches... I can't stand them. I am pretty sure I use wayyyy to much spray when trying to kill such things. Its usually see spider/roach, scream, call someone in to get rid of it while I cower in the corner.

I also have an irrational fear of falling to death. Its being on a coaster and it falls off the tracks, in a plane and it falls out of the sky, on an elevator and it brakes and falls down, I fall between the cracks of stairs....

Actually I plain and simply have an irrational fear of elevators. I am terrified of being trapped on one (I was once for 15min, it was awful) . I scared they will brake, they will stop, someone creepy will get on. I ll walk flights upon flights of stairs over an elevator. Its really bad I have to argue with people and usually make someone walk up the stairs with me b/c I refuse to use an elevator.

laying down and looking up at the sky and feel like im falling.....and frogs

I'll go swimming in the ocean but will never put my head underwater.

Same.

I hate bugs of all kinds. Spiders. Bees. Cockroach made me faint once. I once walked around a neighborhood in May, saw a wild female tarrantula. By the time I noticed it in was about a foot from my feet. I screamed so hard I lost my voice for 2 weeks. I wouldn't leave the house for a month, and I was constantly checking my whole body for spiders (every 10-15minutes) for 2 years. Except when I was asleep. Oh and I once got bit by a black widow. I got lucky though, it didn't pass the skin. I have unusually thick skin apparently. At the time I didn't even know it was a black widow, I didn't tell anyone either. I was 5 years old. I found out it was when I was digging in the yard with my mom and she found a spider. She quickly squashed it and said it was a black widow, showing me the red spot. It was the same spider, I recognized it.

Extension ladderes bother the snot out of me. I have no problems going well over 100' up in a boom lift or going out on a beam at that height but put me on an extension ladder over 20' and I'm sweating like Paris Hilton in church. I also have issues with partner saws.

Things I actively fear are never what turns out to be the worst.
It's those seemingly irrelevant things that get me.
;-)

being beheaded... slowly... and being aware of it, not just like a Count Dooku clean slice but like a slow progressive cut that you can feel until it goes all the way through your spine.... gives me the chills just thinking about it.
