I have bred fish accidentally that caused hybrids.
I never did cull the fish and I'm very glad I didn't.
A Carpinte X Festae cross.
It happens to be my best friends pride and joy now.
I voted yes.

Well....I wanted this in the CA/SA section. I know the folks here keep hybrids...in the HYBRID section. LOL Thanks for the input.

Won't keeping it here effect accuracy of the numbers? What conclusion are you trying to reach?

I have seen some killer hybrids and many I would keep so I said yes.

How about you Aquamojo? I am curious what your thought is.

I voted no on the hybrids.

i dont own any hybrids at the moment but i would not say no to a single wet pet FH. i think they are very nice looking, even the low grade ones are quite nice. i would never own a BP though. as long as the fish is healthy and if sold or given away then it is labelled as a hybrid and nothing else i dont have a problem.

I currently have one hybrid. It's a Hericthys Labridens/Steindachneri cross. Interestingly enough I caught it wild in Mexico. Personally I don't like them...pretty colors..interesting to look at...but not for me. Personal preference. What I do like about them is that it involves new people into the hobby...and that's good for everyone. I have lots of friends who either have kept them or are keeping them. My issues with the fish revolves around the lack of information that people have on the cichlid species as a whole. There are lots of great pure species out there. You've seen my photos. But to each his own. I think the ACA needs to do more to explain some of the nuances that differentiate hybrid vs. line bred, Discus and Angelfish, and more importantly the "why" on the long standing stance on Hybrids. Maybe it doesn't change anything. But the conversation has to happen.

I have 2 Red Texas, and they are my favorite fish so yes. I also like my GT's, JD's and Cuban.
