I breed flowerhorns, which in themselves are hybrids, but I feel that if it happens in your tank with other mixes between different fish then it happens. As long as you dont try and sell them for something they are not cause that I feel is where the real harm can begin. Plus who really knows what colors, shapes, and personalities you may end up with!

I don't buy hybrid because they do not interest me. But of my fish produce hybrids and they survive to get above bit size in the tank, I think they deserve a chance to be part of the community.

I think any hobbiest should be able to keep whatever fish they want rather it be a pure or a Hybrid species. Just do it responsibly. Don't haul your hybrids off to the fish store and tell the guy you're trading them to that they are Timacs when you know very well they are a flowerhorn. I just can't imagine that too many folks do this. I mean, whats the point anyway?

It's a myth perpetrated by those who wish to discredit flowerhorns and those who keep them. To make it seem like flowerhorns are the root of all evil in the hobby.

It happens (unscrupulous people sell poor quality flowerhorns as "pure" trimacs) but no more often than (unscrupulous) people pass of "pure" species as something that they're not.

As you said, it's all about responsibility.

I have 3 blood parrots in my 75g, but they are not mine. Everyone but me thinks they are adorable...:screwy:

Though I may wonder from time to time what some genius/breed type fish may turnout I refuse to particapate. I think its hard enough to find good quality cichlids yet having to deal with wannabe knockoffs and fackes. $0.02
