Do you keep notes/records?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I clean my tank every saturday and every other week test the water before I clean the tank and write it down. It always comes out as ; ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm, nitrate 5 to 6ppm and ph 7.5. But I still keep track.

I take notes when dosing meds or on a new tank. But after things are stable and back to routine I throw the page away.

Oh ya, meds. I write it down on the calendar.

I kept notes for a while, but got tired of always writing the same numbers. I check my parameters about once a month. All my tanks get WC on the same day so it's easy to remember which day is WC day. I do WC on my first day off, my last day off, and my short change ( the day I switch from days to nights) - I work 3 days, 3 nights, 6 off.

I keep notes on Water Changes, Filter cleaning, Media changes, Live feeders, Additions, Deaths, and Transfers.

I have a calendar on the fishroom wall and I mark down when I do water changes, does fertz for the planted tanks, and when I clean out filters. I also keep track of meds if I have to use them.

Did you mean nitrate 50 -60ppm instead of 5-6? If you meant 5-6ppm, what test are you using? I'd like a test that is as exact as that.
