I have no hands on experience but "The Guide to Cichlids" that came out last year says 20" I haven't seen any over 9" myself.. But have seen at least 9"Personally

i saw those guys too, and did a little research and found out that it's red because in it's native habitat, it hides under water lilies where the underside are red so it's a natural camo. Need a large tank, but it's not that agressive because the mouth opens wide but only act as a suction and i saw those guys actually getting picked on by the red parrots they are with. 29 dollars for one though, kind of expensive for me right now.

My Red bay snooks are still small 3", They are not very agressive at all and got bullied by firemouths of equal size.

i have a breeding pair and the male is around 9 inches now. mine are pretty aggressive, but only in self defense.. the green terrors dont mess wit them.
