I always wondered if an A. lyonsi was introduced somewhere in the original FH breeding. It could account for some of the colors seen in some of the FH on the market today.
 
Granted those flowerhorns in the pictures might not pass a drug test seeing as they came from malaysia and are most likely chock full of hormone color enhancers.

I have never seen any that looked that stunning in person, but my LFS has had a few that at around 4 inches displayed some very vibrant yellows and blues that rivaled saltwater fish. Who knows maybe the crafty malaysians put flourescent genes in them too.
