do you name your fish

Fimbriated Moray---Adolf (tried to bite me when I took the lid off his box when I first got him home, I called it a Nazi. one of my buddies told me I should name it adolf.....it stuck.)

Jardini---Leyhe cause he NEEDS to f$ck off (trailer park boys)

4 line pictus--whiskers. I don't need to explain this. ALL other fish HATE his wondering whiskers. He will harass them with his whiskers till they are driven to rage and start smashing around the tank. Then he waits for them to stop swims over to them and repeats the whole process again. Commonly referred to as "That bastard whiskers" Shovelnose HATES him. Lehey hates him and also the knife fish. When they have had enough they usually bite off his tail. Then he is easily outran, till it grows back......I just can't find it in me to get rid of him though. Had it for over 6 years. Bought from Wal Mart.


Of all the fish I own only the problomatic ones get named.

I, like many others, name those except for those of similar characteristics.
My Pink Kisser is named "L'il Pink", my Shark is named "Brian" (cause that is the name of the guy that takes us (shark) fishing in the Gulf), my Plecos are named "Click and Clack - the tappet brothers" from the hilarious radio show "Car Talk", my cats are named Neumann and Samantha - after my previously owned (died of old age) cats, the rosy barb is just called "Rosey".
Too many loaches to name and too many blood fins...

I've named all my fish;

2 x senegalus = Morticia & Gomez (after the 1960's addams family)
1 blue gourami = Bela
1 opaline gourami = Lugosi
2 x gold gourami = Lon & Chaney
2 x bristlenose plecs = Boris & Karloff (plecs & gouramis named after some of my fav old actors, if I get any more fish I shall be moving onto james cagney, Humphrey Bogart, etc)

2 x Bronze Corys = Mickey & Malory (after the film natural born killers)

1 black moor = Kuuga (japanese tv character)
1 choc oranda = Fudoh (named after the japanese film fudoh)
1 calico telescope = Ryuki (again another japanese tv character)

When I get a bigger tank for the goldfish after I move if I have room for more I will continue the japanese name theme and go for names such as Nexus(after the ultraman series).

Only 1 of my fish has a name and that is my RTC. My wife and kids named him "Bruce," after having him for 2 years they got tired of calling it catfish. None of the other fish I own have names.

We named a couple of our fish.
One of my bettas is named Ling Ling.
My dojo loach is named Dexter.
We're thinking about naming our electric yellow, but haven't thought of anything. He has a lot of personality and acts a bit like a dog, so we figure he deserves one.

Most of our fish don't have names though, because with 25 species alone, and several of some of those species it's hard to remember that many names.
