Do you have a quarantine tank for when you purchase new wet pets? Or do you just drop and plop? How long do you quarantine if you do?

Do you medicate all new arrivals before adding to your tank?

I quarantine most of the time, but usually don't medicate during.

If I'm stocking a "new tank" no, but if it's established. Yes. I QT 2 weeks min. I don't medicate unless it's needed. Though if I do get some type of fungus/bacterial/parasite problem I don't QT the fish. I treat the tank. It may be more expensive but more often then not removal and treatment of a fish, someone else gets sick by the time the fish has been treated. there are certain exceptions to this. But I have 1 20L atm that Is used as a QT tank. It's up and running housing some mosquito fish and some java moss. It's my dumping grounds for any platies/guppies/mollies that will be feeders.

1.Do you have a quarantine tank for when you purchase new wet pets? yes its a must.

2.Or do you just drop and plop? no.

3.How long do you quarantine if you do? a week to a month.

4.Do you medicate all new arrivals before adding to your tank? yes in my quaratine tank.

Yes, i have never used a quarantine before oddly enough though. But i dropped my 12g when unpacking it from moving so i need to reinvest in a 10g or so, maybe a 20g because more space, maybe not necessary though. Quarantine is important because if the fish is sick and you add it to your beautiful tank, bam your fish die. I am not going to unnecessarily use meds unless a disease breaks out, otherwise it's a pure waste of money

Yes, 40 gallon breeder tank. They also get a few days of paraguard. (Paraguard treats a very very wide range of ailments) depending on their appearance and the fish they were housed with or shared water with. Usually quarantine for 30-35 days. If the fish does have a disease that is pronounced after purchase and I cant take it back then they get medicated until im completely sure they are safe for addition to a show tank.

IMO quarantine is absolutely crucial to stock a tank efficiently.

I hear this a lot ~ You have been lucky. I used to have Discus ~ but changed to Fronts. MOST of the time on our Discus forum, 99% illness/sickness issues were due to not QT.
