But I realise koi food usually fill up the stomach of fishes fast. A cheap way to feed monsterous fishes:D

Well I can try soaking the pelets... but those cichlid sticks that I have sink way to fast... and then it's free game for my cats... anyone else have any other food suggestions? and I also don't want my jar making a habbit of picking of the bottom... my jar is so picky it doesn't even grab the tiny canned salad shrimp that my cats gobble up!!

Well the thing is I've tried other pellets and sticks... I think s/he wants something soft... she spit out the cichlid stick adain and I threw in some medium cichlid gold pellets and she didn'tt even eat look at them... after I got her to eat a koi stick this mourning I threw in a couple meal worm larvaes to make up for it.... (my leopard geckos won't eat the meal worms once they start turning.) Does anyone know of anyother soft floating packaged fish food with a higher protien%.... thanx for all the rplys and suggestions so far...

The Large Hikari Gold floating type Koi Food. Uneaten pellets can be scooped out (if there are any uneaten) The ingredients are pretty much the same as Hikari Cichlid Gold with the main ingredients being Fish meal, wheat flour, gluten meal, etc. The Typical analysis for protein content is 42% and packed full of additional minerals and fibers...so I would think that these pellets are a higher quality than TetraCichlid. They soften rather quickly on the outside surface and are round...so easily inhaled by the arowana or any other fish. My gar, arowana, Pbass, red hooks, synodontis, and even my royal clown knife readily take them. Plus the bags are large and will last a while compared to typical feeds. Worth the money. Highly recommend them...my fish always look great.

Well the tetra cichlid really isn't a bad product at all and has a min. Protien raiting of 42% the thing is as soon as they soften they sink.... the tetra koi I've been feeding only has a min. Protien raiting of 31% but soften quick and stay floating... both have additional vitamens and minerals as well as carotine and other color enhancing agents... what kind of hang time does the hikari koi have, does it stay floating after it softens or does it just sink?
Thanks everybody for your time!

not sure about the koi version but the Hikari Cichlid Gold floats till a week next thrusday if u really wanted to let it... or about a hour realisticly... all my aro's feed on it and love it... if i were you id try either the hikari gold range n find one that works...

mmmm really depends on the brand and type of pellet.

for example the koi color enhancing formula made by hikari is pretty much the same thing as cichlid gold.

the growth formula is good in terms of protein levels too.
