I sell recycled plastic lumber, we manufacture it in Minnesota. We kept 10 million pounds of plastic out of landfills last year. Heres the problem, we need more plastic, we buy from NY IL SD CAL, all over, there just isnt enough to go around. Recycling does work, it is usefull and is NOT "a waste of time" I saw this guy, Penn and Teller, hes a comedian, but anyway he goes on tv and rips on recycling. He has no idea what hes talking about, hes trying to be controversial and get ratings and attention. But he is hurting us, some people believe what they see on tv. So anyway, Im just curious what you guys do. I know it varies state to state and even city to city, but do you guys do your part??

I recycle cans and bottles and stuff like that, I drink so much damn beer that I would need 4 garbage cans if I didn't.
I have a piece of lake property that I rebuilt a dock on this past summer and I used that plastic wood, great stuff to work with especially in a lake or marine environment.

hmm, I didn't vote because I'm between the first two. I don't recycle everything, so I'm not as good as I should be. But I recycle pretty much everything I can at home, meaning whatever Waste Management will accept curbside. My household always produces more recycling than we do garbage, mostly cuz of beer bottles like plumber said :D I've also got a huge pile of batteries and electronics that need to be taken to the recycling place. But I'm too lazy to drive it over there right now!

Of course I recycle! I return the aluminum and glass back to the environment from which they came from: the dirt. LOL

oh yeah, and cardboard from Big Al's and Drs Foster and Smith orders. Got tons of those that I cram into my recycling bin, a little each week.

When I lived in lake tahoe, they had a program that came out of local tax revinues. Being a tourist economy, most of the money came from out of towners.

It goes like this: throw all your garbage into a can. Some guys come by in a truck and haul it off. Its that simple. At least for us. Where that truck ends up, it dumps all the stuff into a big warehouse, with partitions lining the walls. About 30 guys in hazmat suits jump in, each one looks for his assigned recyclables. they just sort of pus them out to the sides, and a bulldozer comes along when they get a good pile going and pushes it to its assigned place. Im sure its more complicated than that, but I didnt want to stand arround watching for too long, place smells like crap.

I recycle everything I can. I especially like to recycle copper. Is it $2.64 a pound every where or just in St.Louis right now?

I dont know the exact figure, but it is $2.50 or so in cali too.
