My Chinese Softshell butchered fish that were larger than him. They are not community animals, and fish are a large part of their natural diet. They are fast, mean, and well adapted at fish hunting, so I wouldn't recommend it if you like your fish in one piece.

If you want the softshell, maybe set up another tank? They will need a pretty massive enclosure in the future, please keep that in mind

I've caught Eastern softshells on fish in the wild. People catch them when aiming for catfish pretty regularly. Yours may be content with prepared food, or it may not.

i had red ear sliding turtles with cichlids be4. but i dont think its safe to do lol

I have a spiny softshell and a few other turtles with my cichlids... all has been well.

LOL at Softshells not being baskers, mine spend more time basking than they do anything else and they are a common sight in the wild basking.

Anyway I keep mine with Ciclids and other large fish and I have never have issues, but they tear through rosies like its going out of style, but as others have stated size could be a issue.
