Do you think I have enough or the right water rotation?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you have lots of water move ment on the surface then you should be fine, just remember that warmer water has less O2 in it then cold water.

Would you say I got less O2 now since i removed the airstone and the waterfall on the right?

Any surface agitation will increase the Oxygen in the water. Those AC110s and more than enough for that tank to be oxygenated. You can safely remove the air stone.

On that tank, you can just stay with the Fx5. Remove the Ac110s and point the Fx5s output toward the surface. Don't worry about the "circulation direction" of the water. If you have your intakes on one side of the tank and the outputs on another, the water will flow toawrd the intakes.

You can just use the Sump as well. You don't need the AC110s

You have over 1400 GPH (14x turn over rate) just with the Fx5 and AC110s. You would have a 6x turn over with the fx5. Thats more than enough for your tank.

Thanks for the responses guys.

My tank is a warm tank. I believe its around 84F. Its almost lukewarm but not really. I don't have a thermometer but I only have a 100W heater in the sump which heats the tank anywhere from 82 - 84F. It doesn't matter what the season is.

Thanks for the input Kgray but I think I will keep the two AC 110s. I like this tank over filtered as you can see, I have a small sensitive round little fella. It also "plugs" the two rectangular holes in the tank because I also have a jumper as you see on the photo as well.

Also, the Quietone 4000 HH pump in the sump is rated for 980 gph.

There comes a point though where to much filtration, is just going above and beyond of Realism.

You have about 2380 GPH running through a 100 gallon tank with 3 fish and a bare bottom..

23.8x Turn over rate. What are you trying to accomplish? Why are you worried about the circulation?

Worried, not really worried but I just want an almost zero dirt tank. By dirt, I meant dust and fish poop.

Not really trying to accomplish anything but a pristine looking tank. Besides, all my filters are gonna be transferred to my future 300 gallon tank plus an additional 120 gallon wet dry. That's another purpose there.

I think you've answered your own questions here. Dude.

You can do that with 1000 GPH and less. On a tank like yours, you can have a jet of water going across the bottom of the tank keeping depris suspended for the filter to pick up. Install an overflow. You can also run polishing pads or even install a whole house filter which can filter down to 1-5 micron on your filter system.

More filters and more flow does not always mean you water will be more clear or your tank will be more clean. Its how you setup you filtration and how you make it function. Thats the key.

Your over board with your turn over rate.

I also noticed just now you have mor fish than just 3 but still a 24x cycle is a LOT and you don't need any more.

You "should" ask what you should get for a 300 gallon tank. Then, purchase the equipment BUT do not install the equipment on the 100 gallon tank. Wait till you get the 300 or purchase the filtration when you get the 300.

Don't put the W/D you have on your 100, on your 300 gallon. Use only the 120 gallon sump and use that with maybe an Fx5 for a backup. Im telling you, its how you setup the filtration, not how many filters.

thanks for the input bro. The more the better for me.

thats nice :naughty:

The OP could buy a pump that flows 1500+ GPH or more and hook it up to his W/D. He wouldn't need any other filters or circulation.
