I agree they should be banned! My neighbor was going to flush all the fish in his 15 gallon tank when he moved. Didn't see the cute little silver fish hiding behind a rock when I agreed to take them all. That red bellied pacu quickly outgrew my 100gal and then a 260gal. I ended up building him a 1500 gallon outdoor pond. He is now almost 3 feet long and I'm going to have to build a bigger pond.

what a gorgeous pond... and that is so sweet of you to do... i love pacu so hearing about one with a loving owner is music to my ears.. there are a few good pacu owners on MFK... so happy for these loving creatures to find good owners...because so many of these gentle giants face doom and gloom... i hope you share your building of your next pond in our DIY section... what a pond..!!!!!

here too. i always see the pacu tank dwindle down, then stock back up with 15-20 at one store i use. the pathetic part it, i have the biggest tank the employees claim out of anyone that goes there they know about

They are all over the place here too and that is a beautiful pond set up.I have always wanted Pacu but I wont get any because I know I wouldnt be able to properly house a few of them which is what I would want.
