i think all americans are descended from foreign lands...oh no...wait...thats a fact...unless your 100% native american anyway...purposely wearing patriotic american clothing on a day that another race/religion/creed is celebrating a holiday is just plain disrespectful and ignorant and if you dont see that well.....ignorance is indeed bliss...

:screwy: This is AMERICA!! These were AMERICAN kids. These kids should NOT have been sent home for wearing the flag.

for the record, i'm hispanic and i was disgusted when i heard about this principal's behavior. it's reasons like this that i dont care and dont take part in anything that has to do with the mexican culture, and i'm even ashamed at times to be considered hispanic. and to be honest, most people of mexican decent in the states dont even know what cinco de mayo is about :headshake

Because its an excuse to drink, eat...and party. Its like a $hallmark$ holiday for mexican restaurants, bars, and liquor stores. Its kind of ironic as there is a negative stereotype put on mexican people.

Cinco De Mayo is a Mexican holiday the commemorates their victory in battle over France. They only reason it is celebrated in the USA is because it gives people a reason to partake in one of America's favorite pass times drinking. It is never wrong to wear a shirt with the US flag in the United States on any day!

I'm sure there are some mexican people who sit down and talk to their children and so forth and tell how this day became and everything. But really I've always thought that it was a day to "celebrate" as in drink, party, etc for mexicans in America.

I'm not saying us Americans are different. We drink and watch Fireworks and BBQ. I rarely hear anything about our forefathers and blah blah on t.v. or even in school when it's nearing July 4th. But, that's not the issue since we can wear patriotic clothing anyday we please besides Cinco de Mayo of course. :screwy:

true, but so is every other american holiday. what do you think americans do on memorial day, 4th of july, and labor day? last i knew these holidays were all about eating, drinking and partying. or do you use your day off from school or work to truly honor the reason for having that "holiday"? ;)

ha yeah i'm hispanic, and yes, i agree with your view. and i'm probably one of the few hispanics that supports what arizona is doing

^ jcardona, u r awesome!!!

this principal should be fired. period. end of discussion.

"Good news for Morgan Hill, Calif. students who like America. Now they can wear patriotic clothing to school and not risk being booted from campus."

Awesome! lol

This is ridiculous. It's America. If I can't wear a flag because it's "Mexican" holiday, then I might as well be down in mexico myself. Besides, cinco de mayo is just an excuse to get drunk off corona and dos equis instead of budweiser.
