Do you think this is a cross river puffer.

My fahaka is still mottled at 10-12" & never developed those nice maroon stirpes most do.

Justin - any chance of seeing some pics of your two pustulatus?

That's interesting because at first glance, I thought it looked just like my fahaka when it was a little smaller as I was upset it did not have the maroon type stripes. They soon developed with age and size though. I think I'll leave this one to the experts as I just became acquainted with cross river puffers.

Anyone know of a site that shows pics of Cross River, Fahakas, and/or Pustulaka/Fahakalatus at different ages? I'm looking at buying a CRP or Fahakalatus, but unsure of what to look for. Don't want to end up with something totally different from what I want, or pay out the $ for a Fahaka thinking it's something else.

Here are pics of a true pustulatus: http://www.**************.com/forum/ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Freshwater/T_Pustulatus/
Go to that site & search for pics of fahakas, and/or pustulaka/fahakalatus.

Yeah, my Fahaka is only about 3" right now, and there are definite outlines of stripes, but the dark maroon is only showing up in patches in those stripes, the rest of the red is kind of muted, and his back is still mostly mottled.

not an expert but that does not look like a Cross river to me.

Ok so Fahakas and Cross rivers are two totally different species?? Or is one a color morph or sub or the other???

^ They are two different species...
