Do you turn your PC off?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
doctor, what the hell does that even mean? Someone else said something similar about turning computers off and rarely connected to the internet yet aim is on 24/7. Last time i checked aim requires your computer to be turned on and for it to be connected to the internet.

im asuming doctor has atleast 2 computers and one is connected to the internet all the time and the other one just connects for the updates. atleast thats my take on it. i could be wrong.

i think on my new computer when i can aford to build it i am going to put lynux on it. i am sick of windows. but i am kinda curious about the windows longhorn coming out. i might have to get a copy and wast some hdd space with it and dule boot. :grinno: .

mac on the other hand is only good for a few things such as graphic design and video/sound editing. only because it has the power to do so. i have playd with a mac one and it scared me. i felt like a fish out of water with it. to simple. :hitting:

i leave it on all night
and shut off while im in school or work for the day
ill have a handheld aim/ yahoo soon so that should always be on

My comp is always on and it heats the room up considerably.

LOL mine does too. My wife is always wondering why the computer room is cozier
than all our rooms during winter . She doesnt know the pc acts like a mini heater.

My aim is on just about 24hrs/7days

I have more than one computer. I turn them off daily.
One of them rarely gets connected to the internet, but when it does, it's usually only for updating programs I use. I'm trying to keep it as Spyware free as possible.

I should have noted that my AIM 24/7 is with the aid of the T Mobile sidekick.
That was a bit confusing.

TRUST:

Thanks for noting about the Sidekick.

Respectively,

Hi,

Before you settle on the Ogo, you may want to try and see if you can find out how bad the signal dropouts are for your area.

A friend of mine lives in NC. He had to get the Ogo because signal from T Mobile wasn't good enough in his area. His Blackberry wouldn't work at all.
The Ogo wasn't too bad for him, but recently he went with a HipTop which is basically the same as a Sidekick2. It's being offered by a company that has good signal strength. He likes being able to also surf the net in addition to having the messengers from AOL and Yahoo.
