Do you use a heater?

I've always wondered if I was the only one who never uses heaters. I live in Ohio, so it's not like it's "hot" here either.I just don't use them. The tanks never get below 74. In the winter though I will hook them up because I don't like when it gets below 72. Other than maybe 4 months out of the year at most I don't use them.

I know this depends on what fish you have, where you live obviously, and if you want their metabolism to be much faster.

i don't even have one, with the heat here in the philippines, it's like hell in here. i would even get an airconditioning system for my fishes if there is on. @ noon it reaches 38 degrees centigrade here, you can fry an egg on the pavement.

Same, all the tanks have them. It's easy to plug it in when it gets cold.

I want to never live where it gets past 100 in the day. Hell past 90 here sucks, I can't even imagine these places that the shade is like 80+F.

I keep my tanks at 78-80F. But it gets really hot here and the temp goes up, so I have chillers also. One summer I had a saltwater tank hit 90F and half my corals melted. Let alone that's saltwater....but I still went out and bought a bunch of chillers and keep all my tanks at the same temps year round. I like control. haha.

na i use heaters in all my tanks i live in NewEngland... it gets cold.. but i like my tanks at 79 to 81 cuz i want my fish 2 grow and b active.

I live in houston, keep the house at 74 year round. Don't use heaters. I own them in case worse comes to worse, but honestly haven't used them in a couple years now.

Absolutely....I finally got smart and replaced all the glass heaters for stainless steel ones, not to mention the new heaters have external controls...no more getting my hands wet

I use the Rena Smart Heaters...should've said that in my post before. I love them, they don't break and won't burn to the touch like most glass heaters.
