do you use a timer for your lights

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used to use a timer but then it bit the dust and I've been too lazy to get a new one. Timers are definitely the way to go though.

definitely. never set up a tank w/o one. cant go wrong for $7

nope , I just flip on the lights when I get home from work. And off when I retire to the bedroom. They are never on more than 6 hours a day really. I keep mainly bichirs they tend to enjoy the low light so I keep the lights on as little as possible.

i do on my sw but not on my freashy water tanks

I do and I love it.

I use three in my fishroom (centrally lit): one with a single bulb (first thing in the AM / last to go off at night), one on a shop light (2 x 40Ws) and another on a 125g tank.

The more that you can automate in a fishroom, the less maintenance...

ok cool i had a timer with my old light but just bought a new light that has the ground prong on the plug and was wondering some opinions, im bein cheap and dont wana buy a timer lol

i almost never have my lights on anymore. only when people come over or if i want to relax and watch them swim... otherwise the lights are always off.
