Do You Use Filter Carbon with Loaches?

I have run carbon in my tanks for years with no adverse effects on my loaches.

I ran carbon for the first couple of years, then read that it was nonessential or possibly harmful and stopped using it. My loaches seemed to be fine either way. I did put carbon back in temporarily when I was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks, because I was worried about my fish having to go so long without a water change. They all did survive, but I'm not sure whether the carbon actually helped or not.

I've had my loaches both with or without carbon . no diff .
