Do you use heaters for your natives?

I dont heat my tank either but.. its67f here room temperature and its probably about 60f in the basement. my fish are fine but i think i might put a heater in it just to speed up their metabolism a bit

i use a heater in my pike fry tank, but thats just for speeding up there metabolism and growing them on for selling, in a non heated tank they grow slow, put a heater in and keep the water at 24 degrees and they feed like mad and hit 5-6 inch in matter of months, and i get a few batches a year.

I don't use a heater in my native tank. It is in the basement and the temp is about 58-60 degrees right now. The fish eat fine and don't show any signs of sluggishness.

I only use heaters in mixed (tropical/native) tanks or if trying to spawn. Otherwise there's just no reason to speed up their metabolism and possibly shorten their lifespan, not to mention causing them to eat more and dirty the tank quicker. Actually, if I had the money I'd probably use chillers to keep the tanks a little cooler mid-summer. Not to mention then I could keep some of the fish that only do well in cold temps.

I personally dont heat my native tank either. My friend used a heater on his tank with a LMB. The heater broke while he was in class and the temp rose to 100 and the fish fried. Not worth risking that
