Do your Bichirs dig?

sometimes my del act just like that...i think it's normal

Some Polys even completely burry themselves with pretty much just their eyes poking out (usually endlis) but dels have also been known to dig in the sand... Mine don't though

One of my dels has similar patterns, it's cause of our white sand, on black sand they would get more stripes.

Perfectly normal for bichirs in general to dig/play with substrate. I assure you though putting those two dels in the darkest substrate will not "add" more stripes. It would bring out more color (greens) & improve contrast quite a bit though.
