Do your focus your collection on one type of fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I could go nuts and try to work with a butt load of species , esp. with South American oddballs . I love all those voltage species of knife fishes , electric catfish , eels , etc. I'll be going back to school in the spring semester so my focus is lungfish . I have a small South American Lungfish currently . I'm looking to purchase a gilled and/ or marbled african lungfish.

What looks good as part of a whole picture quickly floats out of budget...

Yup all my fish are from the Amazon and most are SA cichlids. Thats just what I like.

i'am addicted to clown loaches!! started with 6..now i'am up to 60 plus..still trying to get over the 100.. they are just awesome in a big pack!!

Am personally keen mostly towards Primitive Monsters, Oddballs, and some sizeable Characins and Cyprinids. So it could be a sort of focused variety.
Focused variety....another good term. This would apply to me as I tend to stick with a fairly small selection of different fish..I don't really like to mix fish together that would'nt be found in the same waters in the wild.

The main reason i ask, is beacuse I found that when i had a large collection of tanks with a large collection of different fish, I found two things:

1. There was too much "noise", mind-noise I call it. Sort of like an unbalance - sort of like Feng Shui, I like balance in my tanks.

2. Gravitating towards Fancy Goldfish only has allowed me clarity of purpose and care, a wholeness if you will.
