do your polys eat from the surface?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My Sen eats from the surface... when the feeders are eating/distracted. And then I have one less feeder, heh. ^_^

My l'il 4.5" P.endli comes to the surface to get his/her portion of freeze dried krill and river shrimp, like clock-work & gets a few scraps of pellet food from the bottom of the tank aswell. I did'nt realize that their mouths could open up sooo wide.... and they have a lg. bag for a stomach... ha ha!

Mine does (senegalus). He eats cich. gold, biogold, and hikari carnivore. He also gets f/d earthworms and he will take whole f/d krill that I feed my gar; these he shakes around and tears apart before he swallows them, it's funny.

i hope mine eventually does

I'd rather have sinking pellets anyway...floating ones aren't nearly as useful.

I tried some floaters, just because of this thread. Confused my poor senegal, he knew he smelled food, it just wasn't on the bottom like normal. He figured it out in a couple of minutes though.

I'm actually pretty impressed my guy surface feeds, it's a relatively tall tank (30"). In something like a 12" high tank I bet they get the idea of food at the surface quicker.

My delhezi and senegal eat from the top..all others only from the bottom.
