I'm not an expert by any means, but what are you thinking going into the tank with hatching fry? You think she'd just watch you clean the gravel? You're threatening her, please don't do that again bro!!!

Are you feeding new fry to older fry? Why? I wish I could take some to grow out, here's how I Raise fry: http://youtu.be/o1_mHIr-91Y

I have cleaned the tank several times while eggs are in the tank and nothing like that has happened. i keep about 1.5 feet of distance n leave their corner alone...today she just lost it n went crazy. n yes i am feeding new fry to old fry...i am not a dealer and RBP aren't exactly in high demand so i have 3choices... 1. Take them out every spawn n grow thousands and thousands of fry out with no where to put them or unload them.
2. Take them out and let my one and only batch of older fry eat them and save money on food.
3. Leave them in the tank and let them die in the gravel...or grow into "swimmer" stage and get eaten by my adult shoal....

#2 seems to be the best choice to me and my situation. ya know?

Finally got em in a bigger tank.
The only filter i have to run on it is a magnum 350 which creates quite a current but they seem to enjoy it!

They've been exploring for about 2.5hours and no sign of trouble. I'm off to the LFS now to pick up some more junk they can hide in.

There's Gigantor on the left..the first brave one to venture out.

There he is on the right. Still 2-3times bigger...but some are starting to gain on him.

No more problems! I guess you were right :) still a little worried about the current being too strong but they seem to be doing ok..i find a few "resting" in the decor just sitting on it sometimes haha

How are the fry doing?

What all exactly are you feeding them?

Has mortality decreased now that they are in a larger tank?

I see no problem with feeding the younger fish to them. The only issue with feeding the "wigglers" is that all the nutrients from the egg by that time are just about lost - and you havent really had a chance to "gut load" them. Im thinking if your water quality is good enough, its probably a lack of nutrients that is leading to fry mortality. With the size they are now they should be taking flake etc.

Ive been following this thread but not posting - you are having great success and that is a great sign. Happy fish breed. Yours must be very happy indeed.

Strange but true - since reading this Ive started to see some pre-spawn behavior in my P's, but dont think that its possible yet for them to breed.
