He is still growing quick. He is so close to my Florida gars length it's hard to tell how much shorter he is. I would guess 16" Not getting fed daily anymore as it's really getting to expensive because of the greedy big cats so he's getting fed every other day.

Not to get off topic but how much do you feed your cats?

The whole pond gets 3-4 talipia fillets a night. Nls and massivore pellets are fed daily and they end up getting some of them to

I was floating a bag with several large African cichlids in it today and I watched the gar go up to the bag look what was in there and than attacked it. Put a bunch of little holes in one side and tore off one of the corners....guess I'll have to feed him daily.

Ha, that's how my Cichla are when I float a bag of feeders in there. They don't rip the bag open...yet. But still haha, anymore pictures?

ground beef = horrible idea for feeding gars or fishes in general. it is fatty and can quickly pollute the water. generally better to avoid most store-available terrestrial proteins for gars. go with frozen fish/shrimp or pellets.--

I had done that before and there is no pollute water since I got a strong filter, and I don't dump a bunch of meat in my pond! the fat can be prevent by rinse the meat with warm water and increase water current in the pond, you can also give them some feeder fish to make them exercise!
