Nice gator andy. I've got to come check him out some time.

I have one that is thrice it's size now after a month after i bought it in the pet shop...My killer is amazing!!!And yours are great looking as well..they all are..:)

My killer is also growing so fast..:)..He is also an alligator Gar. He is now 20inches after about only a month...I also recently bought a bunch of channa striated fry and I'm planning to grow them...I hope You guys can help me with information about how to grow them..

I'm new here so I hope you will understand my ignorance on how to manipulate this account..I hope that you guys can also help me with that..Thanks a bunch!!!:)

well, i can understand you guy's fascination with gar but i never thought to keep one in a tank. that has to be a huge investment for a tank big enough to house one. i've never seen one so small either though, and 85 bucks for one? ouch. there is a tidal creek almost a stones throw from my house, i could just go catch one. i've seen specimens up to about 6 feet, but the smallest ones i see are like 2-3 feet. there is a huge pool on one side of a bridge and when the tide goes out they get stuck in it. oddly, i've had no luck catching them on a rod. we did bowfish a few out for giggles. kudos to anyone crazy enough to house these monsters.

for your situation, watch River Monster on Animal Planet, they might have some tips. Also there are some experiences from expert you can find on internet!

And for the man of this thread: how long is your fish at the time?

He is a solid 18" sorry I'll get more updates soon. BOTH pumps broke at the same time so I'm waiting for one of the replacements to get here on tuesday until than just doing constant water changes. Though I'm betting all the pond inhabitants will like the 9000gph pumps that are coming.
