Does anchor worms effect gars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you all for the advise, i will be looking for a praziquantel-based anti-parasitic med.

Sud i leave my gar in the tank and treat it with half the dosage? or Sud i remove the gar and then treat the tank. With removing the gar i ran the risk that he mite have them and when i re-introduce him to the tank i wud be introducing the worms back into the tank. Correct?

One more questions guys, what meds do you guys get there that are praziquantel-based anti-parasitic med

Prazipro is available at most LFS and major pet chains. Make sure that you use it as directed though. I had a bad experience with the stuff trying to "dose" fishfood for treatment of internal parasite in Kirin Parrots.

Actually the parrots survived constant treatments for nearly a year and NEVER stopped the steady white poop syndrome. Bad experience may be overstated, At the time I was just getting into "fishkeeping" and had no idea what a garbage "hybrid" fish was. In truth I was estatic that these disgusting man made atrosities finnally passed!

keep the gar in the main tank during treatment to prevent re-infestation--

i would say not a good idea, especially since we already mentioned the meds that we do recommend and know are effective (and harmless) to gars. can't speak to that compound's effect on clown loaches or eartheaters either, so if you choose to go with that stuff you're on your own as far as i can help.

go with a med with praziquantel in it, don't mess with other stuff--
