Does anyone else feed their bichirs silversides??

Cool, you got some Bichirs. Just 1? What store did you pick them up at? When you upgrade tanks, and if want to get some Endli’s let me know, I know of a place you can get small ones 5-6 inches for about $35 (they have to special order them).
I currently feed my bichirs catfish pellets, earthworm sticks, soft moist frozen shrimp pellets (these three are from Ken’s fish), Hikari Sinking Gold, and market shrimp (once a week). My larger Endli’s have grown huge with this mixture of food, they were smaller than the Laps and Ornates I got from others at a larger size, and both are the same size as them or larger. Thickest one is about as thick as a ½ inch PVC connector.
Throw in market shrimp (uncooked) into your mix of food along with the silver sides. You can start off with the smaller frozen shrimp which is usually cheaper, try getting from a Asian Store or Winco. You can usually get anywhere from $3.99 to $7.99 per pound. Thaw them out in warm water remove the shell and cut it up in half length wise (so it isn’t too thick) and depending on how long maybe cut again the other way so it’s not too long for it to swallow.
Post some pix of your tank and fish.

Hey buddy! Yeah I got a senegal from petsmart they had a healthy tankful. I grew him out in my old 15 gallon when i went from 15 to 20 I moved him into the 55 as my mom was mad my bichir kept eating he danio's. I will have to look at the endlis Sounds like a hell of a deal. I want a lima shovel nose any reccomendations?

If you aren't going upgrade your 55 any time soon, hold off on the Endlis they get pretty big and thick, would be cramped in your 55. I think they get around 24-28 inches in most larger aquariums. Also with a Senegal (think the max out at around 12-14 inches) and a Endli, you run the risk of the Endli eating the Sen once the Endli grows larger than it.
Check out Dehizl (SP????) they look similar to the Edlis, just don't grow as big, more active (kinda like your senegal), and usually cheaper than Endli's.

yes ! lol I was wondering if anyone would pick up on the emelianenko reference! Thanks for the dehizl advice I definately want more bichirs and it would be nice to be able to mix their species up ill research the dehizl. My filtration is still catching up to everything. I got a 300 GPH HOB filter an undergravel filter soon to have powerheads and an eheim classic 2215 setup any day now. Once it all comes together the giant danio's get moved out and some cool fish get moved in. I also fixed my old 15 (Slight slight crack) Its gonna be in the garage as a hospital tank next to my quarantine tank lol
I feed my trio about everything else, they reside in my frog habitat and eat crickets, mollies and green swords I thought I could save in there, dumb me huh? they are predators so nutrition wise they should be fine. you could try gut loading them as we do in the reptile world. happy bichering.
