Does anyone else have a vessel sink?

How does the 'gravity' look? Which means how far down does the pipe go in the room from the drain point?

being second floor you would think straight down once it enters the wall. but that does not mean it does. good question.

try taking a plunger to it. fill it up with water and plunge it several times. my bathroom sink stays clear in the drain outside the wall, but builds up goop somewhere inside the wall and the rapid back and forth of the plunge breaks it up and lets the flow free once again.
this works even when drain cleaner, rid-x, or degreaser doesn't make a difference.

vessel sinks have no overflow drain like typical sinks do, which acts as a vent for the draining sink. without the overflow you get pretty looks but poor performance.

So what's the purpose of the vents on the regular sinks?

Gotcha.I asked because I was wondering if it might have had something to do with the speed of the water going down the drain...still trying to understand how it all works.

im not very fluent in fluid dynamics, nor am I very good at explaining things, but I was a journeyman plumber for 12 years, have yet to see a vessel sink drain well consistently.

You know...that reminds me of the time I was at HD looking at the selection of vessel sinks they had on display there and a guy walked by me and said that they are a pain in the ass. This was some time before I'd gotten mine.
