most of the day my oscar spins like hes chasing his tail and he jumps out of the water and splashes everywhere until he tires himself out and rests for a while, does anyone elses oscar do this?

oscars are jumpers, they're always gonna jump. is there water dripping off the lid or something like that?

how old and what is his size? i actually lost an oscar a few wks back. left for work and had 3 oscars, came home from work and had 2. i just assumed that the other 2 finally paired up, killed him and my gar ate him. well, yesterday i found him dried up under my couch. these guys are only about 4in and in a 120 with heavy glass lids. mustve gotten a wild hair up his butt

yes there is water that drips off the lids.hes about 20-25cm and about a year old hes only just started doing it about 3-4 weeks ago.

he almost broke one of the lids the other day.

Oscars are always doing something crazy or stupid, I guess that is a big part of their appeal. Not long ago my oscar was laying on the gravel his color was faded and I thought he was dead. As soon as I got up and went over to the tank he sprang to life, flashed his colors and did the "feed me dance". I went back, sat down, and he did it again, played dead. He also splashes and jumps around often.

when i first got him he played dead for a week and i thought he was dying and one day i went to check on him and he was swimming around happily and then he saw me standing there and played dead and layed on the bottom so i fed him two convict babies that were about 1 cm and he stopped playing dead.
