Just wanting to know if anyone feeds their jag by hand. I have been feeding my 7 inch male nightcrawlers and I've been holding them just out of the water and he will jump up to snag it and man is that cool. I have heard of people feeding oscars and other fish right out of their hand but I have also heard that getting bit by a jag hurts like hell, HAHA. Just wanting everyones input on this Thanks.:screwy:

I just got my pair to start taking food from my hand. The male is less than 6" so even if it does bite me it doesn't hurt yet. I may have to rethink hand feeding when he's a 15" monster though lol. I can already see they're going to have some mean teeth!

When ever I feed mine jumbo krill he hits it with such force I'd be afraid to feed him by hand. lol

I feed my 5-6" female jag by hand no problem. Honestly im not scared of getting bit. I've got bit by walleye and northernpike. Alot worse than any cichlid...

man i think that jag is like oscar, no teeth.
my current big guy is only 14" but hes as lazy as a cow. only when hes hungry he moved about, and when a drop a handful of pellets, he just sucks them down just like a big whale. on the other hand my little guy whom i bred myself, will take food from my hand fearlesly, hes only 6".
heck i even hand fed my toothy dovii, no drama, he just suck the fish fillet i gave him. no bitting, but if i chuck a live mullet in his tank, this guy will smack him real hard till you see a shower of scales, till he swallowed him completely.
my biggest worry is actually my peacock bass, they are a swimming rockets, toothless but vicious.
