FYI... It is not his profile it's hers. Second I was wrong it's a 50 gal tank, NOT that that's any better but we have a 100 gal on the way to house these guys until they all have homes. I have found homes for 2 already and have contacted every aquarium in ca and Or, the zoo, and posted adds on CL and numerous fish sites. Also for the record their water quality is very good and they get atleast 30% changes weekly. I am NOT stupid and NEVER had intentions to keep all these fish. BUT I will NOT euthanize any of them!philfreenode;4909810;4909810 said:from his tank profile .. 40gal tank with 9 smaller size Red Belly Pacu
40 gal is a typo right? You can't keep nine 7 inch fish in a 40 gallon tank. They are all severely stunted and will die. The adult size of red bellied pacu is like 2 feet.. or 2/3 as long as a 40 gallon tank and 8 inches longer than the tank is wide not to mention a foot longer than it is deep.
Your Jack is stressed from lack of tank space and lack of territory, or ill from bad water quality (fish hide and don't eat when ill)

My son bought these fish a couple years ago as "small piranhas" unfortunately he didn't know enough about fish to know the difference... I know these fish get huge however as I said these guys are atleast 2 yrs old and only 6", (obviously stunted I know) do you think there's a chance in the right invironment they will recover and grow? Also do you know what spurts their growth (so I can avoid it for now untill they find new homes)? Lol
