Does anyone have an aquarium on wood floors?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just installed prefinished bamboo flooring, and I laid a tile pad in the section near the door where the tank goes to protect the floor.

I had a 100g tank leak out over wood floors, there was no warping. When I do water changes I lay a towel out though.

as long as you clean up the water and dont let it sit there for a long time its fine im a wood installer

Yeah, I always have spills. Just make sure you have a dry mop or towels at hand.

I have a whole bunch of old towels just for water change time. I cover the floor in front of the tanks, that way I can lay the lid on them and it catches any water drops. If I miss any I just wipe it up after. Hasn`t hurt the floor yet.

Hey, If you have engineered hardwood, the snap in type (Kahrs) will having a large tank on it cause it to get any kind of indention or impression in the shape of the bottom of the stand? I got Kahrs everywhere but the kitchen, and I'd like to add a monster tank to my study, but am worried about the wood. Not so much from getting wet, but from the weight.

From my experience, it doesn't cause a problem if it dries. I splash water on the floor a lot when I move decor around or do a water change.

Some place in my room had some kind of leak a few years ago from the heater(not a fish tank heater :D) and some a few of the floorboards got loose :D

As long as the stand doesn't have knobs or focused pressure points, you should be fine. Focused points would be like the metal stands. If you have a wood stand it would absolutely work.
