Sometimes because not all the food was used up by their body and females sometimes do it out of instinct to keep area clean for her pups

heres swifty sat in the window he sits like this most of the day even with the blind down he looks through the gap like a nosey neighbour 
That is weird, but funny. He looks comfortable though.

My old shar pei mampi used to sit on top of the back of couch , but he used yo chew and smash through the blinds when people walked past , we went through many sets
