Does anyone have IVIonster community fish tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
One of the most facinating and beautiful set up's Ive ever seen was a heavilly planted 300tall with large schools of what most people on MFK would concider 'feeders' (neons...rainbows...ect.) My wife and I love our monsters or we wouldn't be here but you should never overlook the time...effort...and creativity that goes into a true work of art like that 300....

Yup I agree. I don't even own a monster fish and probally won't for a long time, because I believe tanks are way too small. I have convicts and danios in a 60 gallon I KNOW it's way too small for them. If I had a 300 gallon, it wouldn't be filled with huge fish, it would be filled with mostly tiny schooling fish and the largest fish would be no more than 6 inches.

I had a 60 gallon in my room. I spent at least 100 bucks on plants and driftwood. I then, spent more $ on 100 neons, several dozen guppies and danios, and one buffalohead cichlid (peaceful guy). Best tank I ever had, honestly, Ive had many cool monster fish, but this planted/neon tank was the one to capture my attention the longest.

My LFS has a 200g tank with a giant (I'm fairly sure 250+) school of Cardinal Tetras. The tank looks exactly like the Rio Negro, where Cardinals are naturally found. It's stunning, and whenever I visit, I always stare at the tank more so than the Arowana tanks or any other tank for that matter. On more than one occasion, I've had employees ask me if there was a problem since I was standing there for 45 minutes at a time. ^^

I used to, had a bunch of livebearers, barbs and tetras in a 180g with my two silver aros. The silver paid no attention to the smaller fish. Then I got a tire track eel, so I no longer have those live bearers, barbs and tetras.

I'm in the process of setting up a 1700ltr (10ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft) community tank.
Just finished welding the steel frame together this weekend. Hope to have it up on the stand in the next week or so.

:)
