Does anyone here fish for gar? How?

Last summer I caught several shortnose with flatfish. Spinners do well with shortnose as well but rope baits are better for longnose (actually a seine is the best for longnose). Since spotted, florida, shortnose and gators all have similar mouth shapes spinner types should do well on all of these.

When I fish, I dont fish for gars but that is what I usually catch. but 25lb test line and chicken livers work really good. You will catch one in no time.

around here i use dead minnows floating on hte surface in the shallows and the gars tear them up... hmmmmmmm maybe i should bring some home a put in a tank by theirselves

I use worms and minnows for the ones up here, can't keep in tanks becuase they need cold water for the species here
