We have one emperor at the lfs I work for (petsplus, north windham, ct). He is doing very well, even though we only rely on massive sponge filters (NOT MY DESCISION).
He was lumped into an "assorted african cichlid" shipment, but I spied him and put him in his own tank, next to some livebearers that he constantly tries to destroy through the glass. (I keep our guppies and mollies under basically the same conditions as Africans, with a little bit of salt thrown in).
