i live in asia. not so sure of the scientific name as they were sold by the name of golden mahseer in the LFS. i suspect it could be a yellow or copper mahseer. Can only confirm the ID when it grows bigger.

the first pics look like Neolissochilus hexagonolepis - burmese not indian fish - the second set are possibly Tor putitoria - golden scale mahseer - keep us updated with photos as they grow

I beg to differ. The first pic were indicated as Himalayan Mahseers when i bought them - Putitoria dont have blue fins, putitoria have golden fins to be exact. Go google blue kelah and you know what i mean - there's a pic i posted here on blue kelah: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108290&page=3&highlight=mahseer

The second pic is from malaysia and not a putitoria species too. Malaysian Mahseers are know as Tor tambroides; Tor tambra - this is the source i got: http://www.kagum.org/home.htm

Sorry I meant the second set of photos look like T putitoria but were posted by you afterwards else - the small fish that you describe as very rare golden mahseer !!!!.

I disagree with your Id's -

the first pic you posted look like Neolissochilus - i'd guesss sp hexagonolepis looking at the head shape, scalation, dark lateral stripe, fins size, position and colour. - blue kelah are Tor Douronensis - which are fairly widespread throughout Thailand, vietnam and the mekong system - therefore would never be found in India - N hexagonolepis - ARE however found widely distributed and I have checked to find them distributed throughout the himalaya. I have some and one does exhibit slight blue in the fins - Blue kelah is a completely different fish.

The second photo you have posted could be Tor tambroides or T tambra - if indeed from Malaysia - they could be another neolissochilus species though !

The third photo posted in this thread looks like T putitoria and are the fish you posted as golden mahseer - 1" long - that said they could be progenious - depends on locality?

What are the other fish in your second photo - the one head on to the camera ?

Nice citations. The species that is found in the LFS in this city-state i stay is very much known for bringing in Blue Kelah and many over 1 foot specimens i'v seen did indeed have blue fins.

So this species i have is found in India (Himlayan species) and not the Mekong species? This is very strange as only blue kelah's are known to have the black lateral stripes with blue fins. I still find what you say hard to believe as i have indeed seen an exact specimen with blue scales (adult) and with exact similar body proportions - care to share where you get this info?

The second photo has a face of the musullah species (Humpback) of mahseers about a foot long. One of them have an extremely high hump and wider body - very nice. I think it is known as white mahseers here, a common sight in LFS here for juveniles about an inch length.
